Animal Pharm

Animal Pharm is a recently developed multi-media collection by
Brooklyn based artist and medical professional Lee Johnson.
Lee is actively exploring the intentions for and interactions
among our medical establishment, particularly pharmacotherapeutics,
and the world at large.
This exhibit is intended not as a static body of work but as
an event in progress revealing the dynamic interaction between
medicine and the living world around it.  Preserved animal
carcasses and living plants will be subjected to many of the same
medical and pharmacologic interventions as humans.

Therapies
will be initiated at the opening on June 4th and continue through
the course of the exhibition.  As the therapies act on the
components of the exhibit growth and decay will become evident in
the pieces themselves.  The work examines the often-overlooked toxic
impact of Western medicine on the environment and the consequences
that it will have on humans.
Also featured is an interrelated body of inorganic works in
mediums such as ceramic, resin, prints, and digital media.
Raw ceramic sculptural work will decay throughout the course of
the exhibition due to the different therapies, while other pieces
serve as fixed expressions of the effects of such treatments.

As the exhibition progresses attendees are encouraged to revisit and
observe the full impact of this process and the implications of
our medical practices.

The artist market at the Grove Street Path Plaza is coming to life!
Endorsed by the City of Jersey City, a weekly venue of artists and artisans displaying their artwork and handmade creations with special art installations will come to the Grove Street Path Plaza, organized by Arts in Action, non profit org. and us,
Fish with Braids Gallery!! I am also part of Arts in Action.
This is a community event, an effort of economic development and a special
outreach for the schools.
We want to feature every week an artist, artisan or art project.
Once a month this "window" is available for the schools. Classroom projects,
art students or teachers.

Obama art

the return of light

after the dark months around the holidays, the 11 rough nights (11 Rauhnaechte) there is a return
of light. The sun rises earlier, the days get longer.
In the new year I have always felt the joy for the increase of light.

" I like drawing with light", a new feeling to draw with light wire instead of ink.
We have a strap-on brain with illuminated brain curves..
and hats with the drawings in light wire. They have a steady mode and blinking modes.

Lee has to treat his anger and resentment for the medical machine through art therapy..
He might start a national movement of expression against the unfair, inhumane apparatus
of privatized health industry in the US.
