fish + braids = fishwithbraids

fish + braids = fishwithbraids
the experience of art thrives at the top of the bell curve in a place of speculation (and not consensus), hypotheses (and not conclusions) and belief (not knowledge).
To stay at the top of the bell curve, as Buergel and Noack might say,
the best art must make us not understand,
which corresponds to a state of sustained curiosity that provokes us to change something about ourselves in an effort to understand.

With Art playing an important role in human evolution, the creative and innovative spirit manifests itself in fashion statements and wearable expressions.
This collection of storytelling visuals through video mapped projections onto costumes exploring a 4th dimension
or the unexpected use of discarded products to extend the material's life,
each creation narrates with a poetic or philosophical approach to fashion.

DIGI SKINS by Kaliptus and Uta Brauser

Storytelling through the use of projected light, animation, sequenced maps.
The costume as a screen in motion
blurs the boundaries of visual communication and traditions of clothing.

"Disposable fashion"
Laura Quattrocchi
I am committed to expanding the boundary of dance, especially through works which bring focus to what is our everyday environment:  Disposable. Instant. Made in China. Corporate.  Things are meant to be cheap and to break.   In the past and still in many countries people reuse and fix everything, and there is little waste of resources.  Every season we are pushed to buy new clothes and shoes to keep up with the new image.  Fashion has become as disposable as the latex glove.

"Waste Park"
video collaboration of Laura and filmmaker Diana Quinones Rivera.

Diana Quinones Rivera is a filmmaker from Puerto Rico.  Her passion for dance and movement are evident in her longtime collaboration with dancer choreographer Laura Quattrocchi and Joshua Bisset, Shua group.

"Repurposed woven and crocheted plastic"
Abbey Klotz
Abbey Klotz draws her inspiration from Japanese Saori weaving, the constructivist movement, street style and drag. She believes letting each piece speak through it's own materiality and uses the natural irregularities of the medium to interweave the idea of variation into the structure of each piece.

"Altered clothing with stories"
Vincent Minervini
Vincent obsesses about American pop culture and brings paraphernalia of
Pop elements into any of his works combined with his spontaneous stories through glitter, drawings and paint onto the altered couture pieces.

"Embodiment of photographs"
Vincent Zambrano, interpreted by Uta Brauser

Uta Brauser brings Vincent's photographs alive by creating a costume or garment with the printed image in combination with body paint and accessories reflecting the theme.
The photo takes new life and evolves to a continued dialog.

"The Emperor's new clothes"
Uta Brauser
Inspired as a "second life" traveller in virtual reality
I enjoy the idea of selling clothing as images.
The possibility to not need to go through the cutting, sewing and material purchase
process and simply sell the image or idea of the outfit intrigues me!
I have clothes on CDs.
Clothing is possible in the imaginative space.
The tale of "the Emperor's new clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen was true.

"glass creations to adorn"
Renee Dwyer

"Urban salvage steampunk"
Diane DiRaimo
Diane is fascinated by pre-digital age mechanical clock parts and NYC traffic light
glass before the city converted to LED lights.

a boutique section will allow to browse the most
ready-to-wear designs as part of the fashion experience.

"Fashion is art and it must remain a dream
that materializes in beautiful clothes,
free of any scheme."
Anna Molinari
